Considering a career involving work in, around or under the water? Whether you are still in High School or already in University, we have a program that will bring you from Open Water Diver to Divemaster, the first level of Professional Diving, giving you the advantage of PADI membership and demonstrating dedication and commitment to the underwater world!

Whether your future lies exploring the depths, protecting the planet as a Marine Biologist, developing infrastructure as a Civil Engineer or you are looking to work in the resort industry as a Hospitality Management Major, being able to work in, around and under the water is a valuable set of skills highly sought after within your industry.

PADI Instructor Development Course - IDC

For those interested in taking the Student Program, there are 2 options available to include either taking the program utilizing books and PowerPoint presentations requiring more time to study, or Option 2, which is to take the program utilizing eLearning for Advanced Open Water and Rescue Diver Knowledge Development

The program also offers the opportunity to pay over time using either a 6 or 8 month payment plan (restrictions apply).

​

To participate in the program, students must present a valid student id from either a high school or accredited university indicating that they are currently enrolled as a student. The program does not include the PADI Open Water course which may be added for an additional fee. Similarly, the program does not include CPR/First Aid training. It should be noted that students should be in good physical health for diving and must complete a physical conducted by a physician prior to entry to the Divemaster part of the program. Students must be at least 18 years old at the commencement of the Divemaster phase of the program.

Spring 2020 Semester
Fall 2017

During this first semester, the following programs will be completed as part of the program:

  • PADI Advanced Open Water Program

  • PADI Peak Performance Buoyancy Program

  • PADI Project AWARE Specialty Course

  • PADI Coral Reef Conservation Course

During the first semester we shall cover Advanced Open Water training to include a Deep dive, Navigation dive, Wreck dive, Peak Performance Buoyancy Dive and a Search and Recovery dive as well as knowledge development associated with those dives.

We will endeavor to enhance your diving skills further with the Peak Performance Buoyancy  Specialist course.

​

During the cooler months we will complete 2 environmentally oriented courses that are land based: Project AWARE and Coral Reef Conservation.

Summer 2020 Semester

During the second semester, the following programs will be completed as part of the program:

  • PADI O2 Provider Specialist Course

  • PADI Rescue Diver Program

  • PADI Equipment Specialist Course

  • PADI Divemaster Course

Upon completion of the Rescue Diver course 50 dives and the 5 Specialty courses included with the program you will b able to apply for the PADI Master Scuba Diver rating, the highest non professional rating in Scuba Diving.

 

Finally, in early May we will complete your Divemaster training. Much of the theory will have been covered during the colder months. We will polish your skills, teach your of the dive industry and how to be successful in it including sessions on leadership, the business of diving, Divemaster conducted programs, Assisting with Scuba Instruction and your role in Professional Diving.

The PADI Divemaster rating and PADI membership enables you to work in the industry, be credentialed as a professional diver within your profession as well as gaining access to work opportunities all over the world.

O2 Provider and Equipment Specialist courses will be conducted in the early second semester. These are land based courses.

In open water again we begin Rescue Diver. Rescue prepares you to deal with dive emergencies, minor and major, using a variety of techniques. Through knowledge development and rescue exercises, you learn what to look for and how to respond. During rescue scenarios, you put into practice your knowledge and skills.

Students signed up for our one of our Hamden Scuba Educational programs can add other (Recreational level) Specialty course to their program at the discounted rate of 15% at the time that the agreement is established or at 10% at any time during the life of the agreement. Such courses must be conducted either locally or at Dutch Springs and cannot be combined with other "Drive & Dive" or "Fly & Dive" events unless otherwise agreed to.

With a large number of courses to choose from, there are always courses that are going to be useful to your career or will enhance your value to potential employers to choose from. Divemaster, PADI, Diving, Scuba CT, Hamden

To expand your opportunities further, upon successful completion of the PADI Divemaster program and becoming a PADI member, Divemasters have the opportunity of becoming Specialty Instructors of several of the courses that they have taken on their path to becoming  Divemasters.

Similarly, upon completion of 60 dives, PADI Divemasters are eligible to enroll in the PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC). Hamden Scuba offers the PADI IDC at several different PADI 5 Star IDC locations each year and an IDC will be scheduled for those wishing to continue their careers beyond the Divemaster level.
