Welcome to SCUBA in 2015!
With 2014 being our most successful year to date, we are looking forward to another great year in 2015. This year Hamden Scuba will be offering more education and more dive experiences than we ever have.
Pricing: We have received word of the new products and pricing from PADI and there are lots of new offerings on the way. We are working through how this will affect our prices to you in 2015, but until we have sorted it out, we are going to keep out 2014 pricing levels on our training for all courses booked and deposits paid for in January and delivered in 2015. This excludes Ice Diving and other special programs - e-mail us and see if your course is covered under this deal - act fast as January is moving along :-) .
Our Hamden Scuba eShop is now up and running powered by Amazon - we have highlighted recommendations and selected products that complement the diving, travel and educational programs that we offer and put them all in one place. As the system is powered by Amazon, your Prime Membership and all other Amazon benefits work on our site too. You will also notice that we will be introducing products associated with courses directly on our page here in order to simplify the process of getting the best deals on the equipment that you need to have great diving experiences. Don't see something that you need - just let us know and we will find the link for you.... Click on Shop Online under our logo in the top left corner above to check it out.
SCUBA February: Following on the heels of our Project AWARE programs in January, we will be offering "SCUBA Tuesdays" in February where we will have a land based course available each Tuesday in February. We are also looking forward to Drive and Dive Adventure: Ice Diving. The Ice Diving weekend is a great experience for divers and land (or should we say surface) support personnel alike. There are still places available on this program, but space is limited, so you will want to contact us soon to secure your spot in the program. Advanced Open Water certification and a minimum age of 18 is required to be certified as an Ice Diver. The Ice Diving program is almost full at this point - contact us immediately to avoid disappointment!
PADI Divemaster: Thinking of "Going Pro" we have Divemaster scheduled as well as EFR Instructor, so there is something out there for divers of all levels, including those that want to learn to dive or continue the adventure! This year we will be offering the PADI Divemaster program in 2 formats. The first is the traditional format of a 3 to 4 day program, the first offering of which will be in April - more information available at April PADI Divemaster Program. The second format is a continual learning based program which is suitable for those with more time on hand and that will be diving with us often during the year. This program enables you to gain more experience across a wide range of courses and environments, but does take longer to complete. Contact us directly to enroll in the extended Divemaster Program to get started today.
Master Scuba Diver Challenge 2015:We are also happy to announce our 2015 Master Scuba Diver Challenge. The Master Scuba Diver rating is known as the "black belt" of scuba diving and is viewed as the highest level of recreational diving. Master Scuba Divers represent the elite 2% of divers having completed at least 50 dives, Adventure Diver, Rescue Diver and 5 PADI specialty diver courses. Those that complete the Master Scuba Diver program with us earn eligibility for a spot on the Hamden Scuba Hall of Fame. Enroll in the Master Scuba Diver program before April 1st 2015 to secure a place at 2014 prices. Contact us to set up your personalized Master Scuba Diver orientation and for full details on the program.
In keeping with previous years, 2015 has a Specialty of the Year course which is EAN Nitrox. This course is both scheduled throughout the year as well as run on demand. Be prepared for your next dive adventure and get your EAN Diver card so that Nitrox is an option for you when you want to use it. Next scheduled Nitrox course here.
We have received many enquiries about our PADI Open Water Certification program which is enrolling now - Knowledge Development for this program is available now with in-water activities scheduled for May.

We are running our fourth PADI Divemaster Program in April 2015 and we are really looking forward to it - the Divemaster program is always a lot of fun. Take the first step in your dive career and become a PADI Divemaster. Working closely with a PADI IDC Staff Instructor, you'll expand your dive knowledge and hone your skills as you become a dive professional. PADI Divemaster training develops your leadership abilities by training you to supervise dive activities and assist instructors with student divers. Do you want to continue your adventure? If so contact us at email@example.com.
Divemaster candidates have logged 40 dives at the beginning of the course, are Rescue certified and 18 years old. Not finished your Rescue yet? Let us know and we will work with you to schedule this course as well. Contact us for additional details as well as to receive your pre course assignments and Divemaster crew pack. We will also be running our EFR Instructor program in conjunction with our Divemaster program.
As this is a November program, it is highly recommended although not required, that you are drysuit certified and diving dry for this course.

The course leads to includes a confined water dive and two open water dives, all conducted under the supervision of a PADI Staff Instructor. Hamden Scuba offers Emergency First Response (EFR) courses that cover CPR, the use of AED's, First Aid and Care for Children. These courses are not just for divers - they are available to enroll in if you wish to gain the skills and knowledge needed in an emergency or if you wish to for instance become a lifeguard this summer or if you need to satisfy requirements for many of the BSA ratings including those for SCUBA ratings. Click on the Emergency First Response link on the left for more information.
We are now also offering EFR Instructor Training. This is a requirement for PADI Open Water Instructors, but is open to all that are interested in teaching first aid professionally, as a hobby or as an asset to your community. Crossover programs are available to those with instructor level certification from other CPR/First Aid certifying agencies.
